All our products are made from live edge wood.

From many different species such as, walnut, beech and maple, to name a few of the domestic species.

Along with domestic species I further use wood such as Oregon Myrtle Wood and Canary Wood.

In regard to the finish of my products, care is taken to add quality to each piece.

Each coffee table is made from quality wood, put into a form and Resin added.

Once the epoxy resin has cured, sanding will be done in stages by use of different grits of sandpaper.

Sanding is a crucial step; it must be done right. I always start at 80 Grit to a finish of 220 Grit for the wood. When sanding the epoxy resin, I go as far as using 400 to 600 Grit to remove abrasions.

So, a glass finish, what are the steps? What creates this?

The answer is, applying a flood coat of resin creates the glass like finish.

Once the flood coat has been Finished, the end result is a wonderful glass like finish.

To illustrate, the picture below shows a table which is flood coated.

Boards, The Process. Custom Live Edge Wood Products.

The process to produce cutting boards is similar to tables. to begin we set the pieces in a tray, we then mix the epoxy resin, add the colours and mix again.

Once the resin has been readied it is poured into the tray, between the wood pieces.

Once dried and ready, the board heads to either the planer or to sanding, this is the start of finishing.

At the end of preparatory sanding, the piece is then ready for its design. The use of a CNC cuts out the design.

A laser CNC places sketches on some of my boards, as can be seen in the photo below.

As with every one of our custom live edge wood products, sanding is inherently important.

Given the fact that every one of our boards will be in contact with food, it is extremely important to know that we only use food grade finishes. The food grade finishes are Walrus oil. Walrus Oil a proprietary wood finish recipe made of Coconut Oil, Mineral Oil, Vitamin E, and Beeswax. Each board is in the oil for 24 hours. To seal each board, pure Beeswax is the choice for completion.
